How to use VPN Security.
VPN security in TeemWork offers high security. It is up to the team how much security you may require.
In the example below we can see that the user Katherine Harris has opted not to use the VPN security function. The radio button allowing 'any computer to be used' is clicked on. She and her team do not require more security than what is required during LOGIN.

There are many situations that a team or a user may feel the need for VPN security. Let's look at how to implement the high security function.
The first step is to click the second radio button found on the VPN security tab window. Next click the number of check boxes in the middle of the window as required. You can have from one to six checked. The authorized checked box determines which computers can be used by any particular user.
In the slide below, the user Mark Emerson is authorized to use two PCs. Only those two computers can access his team under TeemWork.

He has recently purchased a laptop for use at home. Mark has asked the TeemWork administrator to add his laptop to his list of accessible computers.
Here are some methods for setting the VPN security.
Temporarily de-activate VPN
One option open to the administrator is to temporally turn off the VPN security for this user. After a period of time, the administrator can re-activate VPN security.
When the user, Mark Emerson, LOGINs into TeemWork with his laptop, the third fields will be filled.

The administrator simply re-activates Mr. Emerson's VPN security with a click on the second radio button near the top of the tab window.
The final step for the administrator is to click the third check box located between the laptop unique codes.
This method is fine if our team can do without the VPN security for its users for a period of time. If not, the next example gets around the clicking off and on the VPN security.
Pre-set VPN for the User
This method leaves the VPN security on. The administrator completes Mark Emerson's request to have an additional computer accessible to TeemWork without any brief reduction of security.
The Administrator opens the 'Manage Users' window, clicks Mark's name in the user list. The 'VPN security' tab is illustrated below.

The administrator clicks the third check box. When Mr. Emerson LOGINs into TeemWork from his laptop the unique code and login date will be recorded.

This method is more security than the first method. It does leave a period of time open between the administrator's actions and the user LOGIN. If you require continued VPN coverage and want the highest possible security, try this next method.
Activate User's computer after LOGIN
The administrator is notified of Mark's request but changes nothing until after the user attempts to LOGIN. VPN security will not allow Mark Emerson to LOGIN. Instead, the time, date and computer unique code will be recorded in the third field. The information will be in red lettering. The VPN security will assume that Mark's attempt was an intrusion.
After the failed attempt to LOGIN, the administrator can click the corresponding check box. Below is an example of the VPN tab window after Mark Emerson's failed attempt.

The administrator clicks the check box. Once checked the laptop will have access to TeemWork. The red lettering turns to black indicating that the LOGIN attempt is okay.

VPN security can help trace unsuccessful LOGINs from users or hackers who try to LOGIN from unauthorized machines.
When an intrusive attempt to LOGIN occurs and VPN is 'activated' it will appear in red. The date and the computer identification will be recorded in the VPN security tab window.
